Description

NOTE FOR 2024:

Lam Research and the East Bay Community Foundation recognize that many challenges continue to present difficulties especially for students, families, and educators. Due to the disruptions and challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, temporary adjustments are being extended for the Lam Research Core Values Scholarship for the 2024 cycle. We hope these adjustments will provide encouragement to potential applicants and will lessen the burden on recommenders.  The following 3 adjustments are being continued for the 2024 cycle:

  1. Minimum GPA: Required cumulative minimum high school GPA is being lowered from 3.0 to 2.7 in light of all the disruptions to academics and possible negative impacts on overall GPA.
  2. Letter of Recommendation: Only 1 recommendation is required; recommenders will be asked to provide short statements of support rather than a full letter.
  3. Optional short answer question regarding impact of the Covid-19 pandemic: Applicants will be invited to write about any impacts that they have faced due to the pandemic. We want applicants to have an opportunity to share their experiences and provide context that may not otherwise get presented.

These adjustments will be re-evaluated before future application cycles to determine if they are still appropriate.

Lam Research Corporation invites high school seniors in the Fremont Unified (CA), Livermore Valley Joint Unified (CA), Tigard-Tualatin (OR), and Hillsboro (OR) School districts to apply for Lam Research Core Values Scholarship awards of $10,000 over four years.

One award will be given to one graduating senior from each of the eligible high schools listed below who best exemplifies the Lam Research Core Values, is planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college or technical school, and has a cumulative, non-weighted GPA of 2.7 or above.

Applicants must attend one of the following schools:

Students who are related to Lam employees are also ineligible.
